HOS Rules Changed

Anyone that is under the Federal Hours of Service is aware that in July 1, 2013, the restart provision for commercial drivers was changed. It included a requirement for use of the restart

provisions under Section 395.3 (c) and (d) that there be 2 shifts between 1-5am and use of only 1 restart within a 168 hour period. Due to the Omnibus Spending Bill (HR83) that was passed and in effect on December 16, 2014, these 2 rules have been suspended until either a), September 30, 2015 or b), submission of a final effects report by the Secretary of Transportation, whichever is later. Until then, the restart provision reverts back to what was law prior to July 1, 2013.
